Anthony John Stasunas

Anthony “Tony” Stasunas, age 80, of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina passed away on July 15th, 2026. Tony was born and grew up in Muskegon, Michigan, and was the son of Frank and Marie Stasunas. He graduated from Michigan State University and earned his Master’s degree from Central Michigan University.

Tony had a long career at General Motors, working at various positions, which required several moves to different states. Upon retiring, he moved to Florida, where he spent many happy years. He purchased an old GMC RV and renovated it from the inside to the outside. This took two and a half years. He joined the Sunshine Statesmen, which was a club of other GMC’ers and spent many years traveling and making new friends.

Tony was extremely creative and his mind never shut off. His pursuits were photography, carpentry, woodcarving, 3D printing and water color painting. He loved making things for others and sharing his many talents.

He will be sorely missed by all those who loved him. Survivors include his wife, Ann Stasunas; sister, Joan Rop; daughter, Nicole Hill (Nick) and granddaughter, Presley Hill; Sister-in-law, Phyllis Mentel, Step-daughter, Kate O’Brien (Patrick); Step-sons, Brian Lammers and John Lewallen; Nephews, Mike Rop and Steve Rop (Patty); Niece, Angela Morris; Great-nieces, Ashley Morris and Mia Rop; Great-nephew, Davis Rop; and Great great niece, Amelia Morris; Step-grandchildren, Will, Jack, Abby and Carlie O’Brien; Tony was preceded in death by his parents, his Brothers-in-law, Hugh Rop and William Mentel; Great-nephew, Zach Morris and Step-daughter, Jacqueline Lewallen.
