Roy Donald Hinton, Jr.

Roy Donald Hinton, Jr., 81, died Friday June 30, 2023. The memorial service will be held at Millbrook Baptist Church.
Mr. Hinton, a native of Selma, NC and longtime resident of Raleigh, NC was a graduate of Selma High School and East Carolina College (now ECU). He was a beloved teacher and coach at Millbrook High School from 1963-1981, East Millbrook Middle school 1982-1983 and Athens Drive High School 1983-1995.

For 59 years he was an active member of Millbrook Baptist Church. He served as a Deacon and a member of numerous committees.

He was preceded in death by his father Roy Donald Hinton, Sr, mother Retha Henry Hinton, and sister Patrica Hinton Cates.

Surviving, his wife, Ellen Warren Hinton: three children, (daughter) Forrest Hinton Nidiffer of Raleigh, NC, (son) Roy Donald Hinton III and wife Jennifer Hinton of Wake Forest, NC and (son) Eric Warren Hinton and wife Amy Gibbons Hinton: and 3 grandchildren Allison Grace Nidiffer, Sarah Elizabeth Nidiffer and Jet Douglas Hinton all of Raleigh, NC. One sister Laverne Hinton Hales of Ooltewah, TN.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday July 8th at 2:00 pm at Millbrook Baptist Church. Reception to follow.
