Zita Nancy Teer Conklin

Much loved because she loved all unconditionally, Zita Nancy Teer Conklin of Durham, NC passed from history into eternity Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Duke Regional Hospital following a brief illness.

Born April 20, 1941 in Lake City, SC, she was the daughter of the late William E. Teer and Marguerite Stewart Teer, and the widow of Joel H. Conklin of Durham.

The defining characteristic of Zita’s entire life was always caring for others more than herself. Hers was a kind, generous and non-judgmental soul.

Left to cherish her memory are sons Joel Kemp Conklin and Mason Stewart Conklin both of Durham, brothers Stewart Teer (Kay) of Simpsonville, SC and Ike Teer (Sue Cotcamp) of Chapel Hill, NC and beloved granddaughter Angela Lynn Conklin of Austin, TX and her large circle of dear girlfriends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her daughter Sharon Kay Conklin and sister Janet Lynn Teer.

In keeping with her wishes, no service will be held but a celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.

Charitable contributions in Zita’s name may be made to any “No Kill” animal shelter.
