John Allan Braun

John Allan Braun July 4, 1943 - December 22, 2023

Born July 4, 1943 in Miami, Florida, John was the son of the late Harry Edwin (“Bud”) Braun and Helen Ryan Braun. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his sister Margaret Ryan Buffkin, and brothers William “Bill” Braun, M.D., and Walter Braun.

As a 1961 graduate of Miami Jackson High School he enlisted in the Navy just days after graduation, serving on the USS Strong. He was also a graduate of the first Duke University Physicians Assistant Program and a graduate of the Public Health Administration at UNC Chapel Hill. He opened the first walk-in Health Service in Chapel Hill (First Care). John worked in clinical trials for several major drug companies.

John enjoyed travel, animals, in-depth conversations, auctions, Bridge, and good food. He was also an excellent cook.

John was diagnosed with early on-set Dementia in 2019. He is survived by one niece, his nephews, extended family, and close friends.
By the grace of God and the caring and dedication of many, John was fortunate enough to spend his time at home in familiar surroundings.

As per his wishes there will be no public service. He will be missed…
