Cathy Schenker

An avid reader and well-loved mother and teacher, Catherine “Cathy” or "Cas" Cook-Schenker of Wake Forest, North Carolina passed away peacefully on January 31, 2024. She was born July 6, 1928 in Belmont, New York, the daughter of the late Catherine Phillips Cook and Ralph Frank Cook. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Schenker, her youngest daughter Sandra Schenker-Capell, her sisters Elaine Lapi, Eileen McCann, Ann Fortier and brother Robert (Bob) Cook.

Catherine was a graduate of Chateauguay High School. She received her bachelor of arts from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh and her masters degree from New York University in New York City.

Catherine was an elementary school teacher in both New York and Ohio.

She is survived by two daughters Susan Schenker (Kevin Suggs) of Youngsville, North Carolina, and Cyndy Ratcliffe (Dan) of Wake Forest, North Carolina.

Catherine was a member of Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Wake Forest, North Carolina. A family graveside service will take place at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens on February 21, 2024.
