Dr. Elizabeth Margaret Battle

Dr. Elizabeth Margaret Battle, 53, of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 29, 2024. The beloved Principal of North Wake College and Career Academy, Dr. Battle was a dedicated educator in the Wake County Public School System throughout her career. She is survived by her children, Ella Kathrine Battle Thompson and Campbell Grace Battle Thompson of Raleigh, father Robert Battle of Raleigh, and brothers Jonathan Battle of Southern Pines and James Battle of Wake Forest.
Dr. Battle graduated from Meredith College in 1992 with two degrees, a Bachelor of Science cum laude and a Bachelor of Arts. She was awarded a Master of Education in 1997 from North Carolina State University and awarded a Master of Administration from North Carolina State University in 2001. She earned her Doctorate of Education from North Carolina State University in 2008.
Dr. Battle has been employed by the Wake County Public School System since 1996. She began her career as a teacher at Wake Forest High School and became an Assistant Principal in 2001 at Southeast Raleigh High School until 2004. She became an Assistant Principal at Sanderson High School in 2004 and remained until 2009, whereupon she became the Principal of Oberlin Road Middle School. In 2016 she became the founding Principal of North Wake Career College Academy. She loved her students and faculty.
A memorial service will be held at the West Raleigh Presbyterian Church located at 27 Horne Street, Raleigh on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at 2:00pm. The family will hold a private burial service at a later date.
