Jeremiah Martinez

Jeremiah Blue Martinez completed his journey on Sunday July 21, 2024, surrounded by his children and his loved ones after a brief battle with brain cancer. Jeremiah was a friend to many, and known for his easy going nature, his boisterous personality and blue eyes. He was born in California, but lived his younger years in Nevada. Jeremiah moved to Virginia after joining the US Navy, where he served as an EM on Nuclear Submarines for 6 years. He eventually found his calling working in Automation for Amazon, where he was able to utilize critical thinking and problem solving to address needs and train others to do the same. In his free time, Jeremiah enjoyed fishing, comedy, spending time with his children and had a passion for food.
Jeremiah was a proud father to Kayleigh and Mason Martinez. His children brought him an unlimited amount of joy, and he continued to be in awe of what strong and resilient young adults they were becoming. He was grateful to be their father.
Jeremiah also was a loving brother to Kathleen DesJardin, and uncle to her two daughters Karisa and Kirsten. Recently Jeremiah had found his partner and the love of his life Elizabeth McMillan, and became a doting dog-dad to Poppy. Though their time was short, they both were aware that what they shared was a deep unconditional love.
Jeremiah was incredibly humbled and grateful to have received outstanding care from the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke in Durham NC. He frequently said that he never knew that there were so many wonderful people in the world until he was in treatment at Duke.
In the coming months there will be a celebration of life gathering planned for Jeremiah. At this time In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke or to Transitions LifeCare Hospice in Raleigh NC.
