Joyce Parrish Miller, 81, of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at home on October 26, 2024, with her son by her side. Born on June 17, 1943, Joyce lived a life filled with Christmas, love, joy, generosity and leaving a legacy that will be cherished forever.

During the last four years of her life, Joyce truly embraced living her best life. Whether spending time with family, cruising the strip in Las Vegas, partying with friends/family in the NC mountains or enjoying the coasts of Myrtle Beach and Virginia with her best friend, Puddles, she made the most of every moment. Her zest for life, humor, and love of animals (especially goats) turned any outing into an unforgettable experience that is cherished by all who shared these memories with her.

Joyce worked 21 years of her life at Kelly Springfield and many other jobs before that. Her rambunctious spirit made her a beloved colleague and friend. Beyond her career, she was known for her deep love of Christmas. Joyce delighted in every aspect of the holiday season—from decorating and shopping to giving thoughtful gifts that brought smiles to her loved ones’ faces. Christmas shopping was one of her greatest joys, and she could always be found searching for the perfect treasures to decorate with next year.

Joyce is survived by her son, Herman Lee Miller (fiancée Diana) of Raleigh, NC; daughters, Cathy Rosenberry and Debbie Hurley (David) of Virginia; brothers, Alex Parrish of Myrtle Beach, SC and Charles Parrish (Louise) of Virginia along with a whole slew of nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great grandchildren, including her special granddaughter, Savannah Joy.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Carlton Miller; son, Earl Woods; brother, James Parrish and sisters, Edna Parrish and Ann Parrish.

We will forever remember her warmth, her infectious love for the holidays and the way she made everyone feel special through her thoughtful gestures and kind heart.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Kay Yow Cancer fund, honoring her memory and her generous spirit.
