Annabel Cecilia Settle

A beloved daughter, sister, niece, cousin, friend, and student, Annabel Cecilia Settle passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Transitions Hospice House after a two-year battle with colon cancer. Annabel was born on May 17, 1998 in Seattle, Washington, and grew up in Nashville, TN and Raleigh, NC. Annabel was a highly accomplished woman having earned two Bachelor’s degrees with a double major in Political Science and Statistics from UNC Charlotte, graduating Summa Cum Laude, a Master’s degree in Statistics from NC State, and was currently working on her PhD in Biostatistics from Duke University. In addition to her impressive degrees, Annabel co-authored research papers at all three universities, worked as a research assistant and teaching assistant, and completed a summer internship in 2023 at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. Annabel had a passion for learning and research, animals, the mountains, her books, painting, and her many friends and professional relationships. Annabel is predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Tim and Annie Belle Squires of Raleigh. She is survived by her father, Richard Settle, mother, Kim Settle, stepmother, Christina Settle, brother, Henry Settle, his girlfriend, Grace Champlin, and her paternal grandparents, Cecil and Joy Settle, all of Raleigh.
