Obituary
Slavizza Hendricks

Raleigh, North Carolina

Age 101.
Died 05/18/2025.

Slavizza Hendricks
Slavizza was born on April 6, 1924 in Sempeter, Slovenia, which is a small country located next door to Italy. She was the daughter of Giuseppe Turel and Maria Furlan, who also had 2 sons, Giuseppe and Aloyzi. In 1951, she married Staff Sergeant Frank M. Hendricks of the US Army. After World War II, American and British troops were stationed in the region for peace keeping. During his long Army career, Frank was stationed for many years at the New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, New Mexico. He retired from the Army as a Master Sergeant. They built a family life in that city and the family was active at St. Peter's Church and School. Their only child, Louis Lee, attended the school and graduated from the high school. Frank Hendricks was buried in the city cemetery in 1979. With deep love and commitment, a headstone was inscribed with both names at that time. Slavizza will be taken there after the funeral service on May 31 to rest next to her beloved husband. The burial service will be officiated by St. Peter Church (which is managed by the Franciscan Friars).
Slavizza was gifted by God with 2 grandchildren of her son; a daughter, Rae Lynn McClellan, and a son, Todd Booth Hendricks. She was very proud of her 7 wonderful great-grandchildren. Todd B and Leila M Hendricks of Smithfield, NC have 3 daughters; Cheyenne,Abigail and Isabella. They were joined in February, 2025 with the arrival of a son, Sawyer Lee. Slavizza looked forward to his birth very much and he was the last person that she hugged on this earth. Rae Lynn and Matthew T McClellan of Wilmington, NC have 3 children. They are blessed with twins; a boy, Gavin, and a daughter, Ava. The family was joined later by a son, Wyatt.
Slavizza moved to Raleigh in 1996 to be with her son and grand-children. She doted all her love on the grandchildren during their school years and was active with their events. She continued her Franciscan fellowship by joining St. Francis of Assisi Church. She helped to start the over-50 club, but her joy was singing in the choir at the 11:45 mass. Health problems over the last few years kept her away at times, but she would quickly return. This year she was limited to attending the Easter mass and the one on her birthday. She always thanked God for giving her 101 momentous years. But on Sunday, May 18, just at the time that she would have been going into St. Francis church for the 11:45 mass, God called her with a SPECIAL INVITATION.
The funeral service and mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Church on Saturday, May 31,2025 at 2:00pm. Church is located at 11401 Leesville Rd, Raleigh. Visitation is in the church gathering space from 1:30 to 2:00 only.

Immediate Burial

$2497.50

An immediate burial has the same end result as a traditional burial; however, we have eliminated the extra (sometimes unnecessary) services prior to getting to the cemetery. Not everyone wants an open casket for viewing or a limousine for the family. Despite the term immediate, we can move as fast as you need or as slow as you like. This option simply allows you to save money by eliminating some of the fancy extras at the funeral home.

icon
Traditional Funeral

$6081.48

We offer the same traditional funeral services as the big corporately owned funeral homes in the area; however, we cost about half the amount. You might consider a traditional funeral service if your family is looking for an open casket visitation, a traditional church service or a funeral service in the funeral home's chapel. A traditional funeral service can be altered to fit the needs of your family.

icon
Green Burial

$3033.75

This establishment is one of a select number of funeral homes who meet the criteria for providing green funeral service by the Green Burial Council; a tax-exempt, nonprofit organization working to encourage environmentally sustainability in the field of funeral service. Our Green options allow for a funeral to take place without the use of toxic and non-biodegradable materials/chemicals.

icon
Aquamation

$2640.59

As an alternative to traditional cremation, City of Oaks Funeral Home also offers Aquamation. The Aquamation process, often referred to as alkaline hydrolysis, uses a solution of water and potassium hydroxide to facilitate natural decomposition.
