Lauren (Laurie) Marlow Boegel

Lauren (Laurie) Marlow Boegel, daughter of Gracia Marlow (Cochran) and William H. Marlow, Sr., died on Wednesday, May 28th, 2025 at home in Raleigh. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Karen Marlow Bennett, former husband James Andrew Boegel, Sr. and yellow lab, Augie. She is survived by her beloved children, Alison L. Boegel and James Andrew Boegel, Jr. of Raleigh, brother William H. Marlow, Jr. (Jennifer) of Dayton, MD, and sister Melissa Marlow Reid (Eddie) of Linden, VA. Laurie also loved her nieces and nephews Hollie Moman (Reid), Joey Reid, Brice Reid (Kiersten) and the vast Boegel family.

Laurie was born on December 16, 1957 and grew up in Bethesda, Maryland. She attended Wood Acres Elementary, Western Junior High, and Walt Whitman High School. She built and maintained close relationships with many friends from her childhood.

Laurie started her career in MD at Security, Inc. located in Bethesda, which then led to a 35-year career at Datawatch Systems, Inc. She and her family relocated to Raleigh, NC, where she continued to work for Datawatch, serving as Regional Customer Service & Support Manager for 20 years until her retirement in 2024.

Laurie loved spending time with family, playing tennis, watching her children play sports, sitting on the beach, crafting wreaths, dancing, and gathering friends together. She was a dedicated fan of the Washington Redskins and the NC Courage, and she loved working in her yard and garden outside. She was a spectacular cook and had many memorable dishes that she was famous for. She was a dog mom and leaves behind a rambunctious goldendoodle, Kobe. She had many close friends from Durty Nelly's, the Primal Horde, and the years of soccer mom duties.

Laurie was the hub of her neighborhood friend group, where she was known to many as Lolo or the neighborhood “Godmotha.” Laurie coordinated many driveway socials with cold beer and a fire pit where her neighbors could catch up and relax with one another.

The family will celebrate Laurie with a memorial service on June 21 at Asbury Church. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends starting at 11am, with the service beginning at 11:30am.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Saving Grace Rescue (savinggrace.org) or the charity of their choice.
