Robert Leon Brown

Robert Leon Brown, 86, son of the late Charles Brown, Sr. and Inez Brown, story began on May 19, 1939, in Jersey City, New Jersey. He was united in marriage to Marlene Chandler Brown on July 27th, 1963 and blessed to raise two daughters, Deborah Chandler and Margaret Brown Howe. His passions were his family, music, coaching girls’ basketball, watching westerns and sports. He served honorably in the United States Air Force. Robert was a devoted servant of the Catholic Church as he ushered many Saturday nights with giving his time, talent and treasure at Our Lady of the Rosary church in Greenville, South Carolina. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, a Catholic organization of men who served those who were less fortunate. As a result of his generous spirit, he was loved by many. Robert’s story ended on July 3, 2025, in Raleigh, North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Elizabeth King and Gloria Ann Clayton.
He leaves to cherish his life and loving memories to his wife of 62 years, Marlene Brown, his children, Deborah Chandler and Margaret Brown Howe; one son-in-law, Gary Howe: grandchildren, Marcus Brown and Marissa Montgomery; siblings, Charles Brown, Jr. and Cheryle Brown; eight sisters-in-law, Elaine Lawson, Ethel Jones, Sandra Brock, June Jones-Hawkins, and Blanche Jones, Beverly Chandler Caballero, Carol Chandler Grinage and Robin Chandler Umbrino; four brothers-in-law, Warren Jones, Leon Brock, Edward Caballero, and Sammie Hawkins; a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Robert (Bobby) Brown will always be remembered and loved.
