Tesla Calix

Tesla Calix, age 80, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025 in Raleigh, North Carolina, surrounded by her loving husband and daughters.
Tesla is survived by her husband, Roberto Calix, her three daughters, Claudia Crowe (Jeremy), Caroline Calix, and Alexandra Calix-Hughes (Kyle). Tesla was “Nana” and “YaYa” to her five grandchildren, Austin and Noah Crowe, Jackson and Liam Hughes, and Isabella Calix. Tesla is survived by her brother, Douglas Ramos, her sisters Eda Hughes-Hallett (Peter), Nidia, Isabel, and Rosalinda, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Tesla was the cherished wife of Roberto Calix, with whom she shared sixty beautiful years. Tesla was born in Honduras where she met her devoted husband and spent most of her life in New Orleans, Louisiana where they raised their children. Together with Roberto, they built a home filled with faith, love, and lasting memories. They retired and moved to Raleigh, NC in 2019 to be with their children and grandchildren as her family was the center of her life. Her warmth, strength, and compassion will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Tesla was a beloved teacher (primary/elementary school), she loved to dance, cook, knit/sew, play games with her grandchildren, and her laughter filled everyone with joy.
In accordance with her wishes, a private funeral and mass will be held at Saint Raphael Catholic Church for immediate family. She will be laid to rest on July 29, 2025 at Historic Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh, NC.

Tesla will always be remembered for her warmth, her unwavering faith and love of Jesus and our Blessed Virgin Mary, and the love she gave so freely. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit and legacy live on in the lives she touched.
