John Michael Muempfer

John “Mick” Michael Muempfer, 83, of Holly Springs, NC passed away at home on July 26, 2025. He was born in Youngstown, Ohio on October 10, 1941 to Jack and Mary Muempfer. He attended Ursuline High School and graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. His career, specializing in hydraulic systems, took his family to Chicago, Detroit, Tulsa, and Pittsburgh. He retired to North Carolina to enjoy his favorite pastime.

Mick was an avid golfer with a single-digit handicap. He enjoyed playing courses both at home and on his travels. His favorites included his club memberships at Oakmont CC, Pinehurst CC, and Devil’s Ridge CC. He was especially proud to say he could shoot his age or better in his later years.

Mick, the oldest of three siblings (Bill Muempfer, Barbara Hagan and Marianne Ameen) is survived by his wife of 56 years, Noreen; children Mary (Anderson), Mike, and Kevin Muempfer; son-in-law Kip Anderson; daughters-in-law Ericka and Meredith Muempfer; and grandchildren Ryan and Jack Anderson, Zach, Max, and Troy Muempfer, and Quinn and Tobin Muempfer.

The funeral mass for John Michael Muempfer will be held at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Apex, NC on August 14, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.
