Nancy Landsiedel (née Stolarik), age 90, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025, in Cary, North Carolina. Born on April 23, 1935, in New York City to Joseph and Mary (Papay), Nancy lived a full and vibrant life marked by devotion to her family, faith, and community.
Raised in Woodside, NY, Nancy attended St. Mary Winfield Grammar School and The Mary Louis Academy in Jamaica, NY. Nancy earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Hofstra University, where she met her future husband, Jack, whom she married on September 8, 1956, and spent the next 45 years with.
Nancy had an unwavering dedication to her loved ones, which was displayed endlessly as she and Jack welcomed their six children into the world. She chauffeured her kids, and oftentimes their friends, to various sports, scouts, and beach outings (where she was known for her versatile PB &J sandwiches). Nancy played an instrumental role in their education too; enrolling them in Catholic grammar and high schools, as well as reading clubs at Hampton Bays Library, making sure her kids always brought a book to the beach! When the books were away, Nancy would be playing games (RummiKub being her "go to") with her children and grandchildren, enjoying music and laughter at the beach or by the pool. She found happiness in every shared moment. Fishing trips and beach days were treasured traditions that brought generations together under her loving guidance.
A woman of deep faith, Nancy was an active member of Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Bayside, New York, where she and Jack raised their children. She served as past president of the Rosary Society there and dedicated countless hours volunteering at the church. Her spiritual journey also included time spent worshiping at Saint Rosalie's Church in Hampton Bays, New York, and Saint Joseph's Church in Stuart, Florida.
Nancy embraced life with enthusiasm. She loved traveling to and experiencing the cultures of new places, including many European countries, Peru, Israel, and South Africa. However, she always found peace near the ocean, whether in Hawaii and St. Maarten or at home in Hampton Bays, Southampton, and Stuart, FL. Bowling and tennis kept her active over the years, while volunteering at her church, local schools and hospitals allowed her to give back to the communities she held dear.
Nancy was the beloved wife of the late Jack Landsiedel and the cherished mother of six children: Jay (Rita), Robert (Jeanne), Joseph (Kelly), Kathy (Michael), Richie, and Eddie (Jenny). Her legacy continues through her grandchildren—Elyse, Brittney, Chris, Meghan, Emma, Analiese, Joseph, Jack, Kate, and Connor—and two great-grandchildren, Amelia and Henry. Nancy also leaves behind her dear brother Joe (Linda), niece, Debbi and nephews Robert and Justin, and countless cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her grandson, John.
Nancy’s warmth and generosity touched many lives. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Nancy Landsiedel’s name to St. Jude’s or Quogue Wildlife Nature Preserve. A Celebration of Life will be held on October 4, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Saint Rosalie's RC Church 31 East Montauk Highway, Hampton Bays, NY.
