Gleaton Forman Rickenbaker, Jr.

Gleaton Foreman Rickenbaker, Jr. (89), died peacefully on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at Transitions Hospice in Raleigh, NC. Gleaton was born in Charleston, SC, on December 14, 1933 to Gleaton Foreman Rickenbaker, Sr., and Pauline Lois Fender Rickenbaker. He attended Chicora High School, and graduated from the University of Corpus Christi, and went on to earn a Master’s in Divinity at Southeastern Theological Seminary.
Gleaton loved the Yankees and watched every game that he could. He enjoyed spending time with his family and if he couldn’t see them he would always ask how they were doing and what was happening in their lives. He had a knack for technology and enjoyed helping others with their computer and iPad issues. His career was spent in service of others: Pastor, Bullock Baptist Church, FBC of St. Charles, Pope’s Creek Baptist; Associate Pastor of FBC Melbourne; Case Worker at Psychotherapeutic Svcs; Director ACTS (food pantry). He strived every day to live with integrity.
In addition to his parents, Gleaton is preceded in death by his sister Sara Pauline Rickenbaker, and his wife, Paulette Knotts Rowell.
Gleaton is survived by his children: Paul Rickenbaker, Janet Joswiak, David Rickenbaker (Lily) and a step-son, Jody Rowell; his grandchildren, Amy Rickenbaker (Norman), Kenny Joswiak (Ashley), Katheryn Joswiak (Mike), and step-grandaughter, Elizabeth Moore (Zach); and a great granddaughter, Amy Jane Rickenbaker.
