Harold James Thabet

Harold James Thabet (92) passed away on Saturday September 13, 2025. He was born in West Virginia to James and Bertha Thabet. Jim was predeceased by his wife Lydia. He is survived by his four children, Lorrey and Sheila of Cary, Mark (Ellen) of Durham, and Audrey (Miles) of Raleigh. Jim enjoyed watching his 6 grandchildren grow up and delighted in trouncing them at Rummy as often as possible. He is survived by two sisters, Jeannette and Annette. Together they remember their beloved sister Ruth and brother Art.

Jim earned degrees in Business from The Ohio State University (undergraduate) and Syracuse University (graduate.) He studied hard but also enjoyed marching band in high school and participating in a fraternity in college. While working at GE in Syracuse, New York, he met Lydia. They married, then moved to Berkeley Heights, New Jersey when Jim began working in Manhattan. While Jim had a second career in North Carolina after retiring from Citibank, he most enjoyed spending time with family, neighbors and church friends.
