Roy Vance Murphy

Roy Vance Murphy, 69, of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on October 16 surrounded by family at his home.
Born February 26, 1956 to Jesse and Alice Murphy in Smithfield, North Carolina, he grew up in Garner, North Carolina graduating from Garner High School in 1974. After graduation Roy enlisted in the United States Navy, serving four years before returning to North Carolina to begin his long career in commercial refrigeration at Pine State Creamery.
It was at Pine State that he met Rebecca (Becky) Lee Stanley. Immediately infatuated by her auburn hair, they began a short courtship, marrying six months later on March 3, 1983. Becky and her two children, Chris (10) and Stephanie (4), joined Roy at his home and began their lives together. Daughter Alicen Jeannette and son Roy Vance II joined the family soon after. Roy embraced his role of father to Chris, Stephanie, Alicen and Roy, never missing an opportunity to build their character.
Roy is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 42 years, Becky, his four children, Christopher (Barbara), Stephanie (Mike), Alicen (Thomas), and Roy (Brittany), six grandchildren, Cameron, Tyler, Connor, Katelyn, Kevin & Hailee. He is also survived by his three siblings, Ruby Stone, Jerry Murphy and Joy Young as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Monday October 20, 2025 at Omega Multipurpose Center in Garner, North Carolina from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. The family would also like to thank City of Oaks Cremation for their services.
