The funeral for Hodding Carter, III, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on 6/3/23 at Chapel of the Cross Episcopal Church in Chapel Hill, NC. His burial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on 6/10/23 at the Greenville Cemetery in Greenville, MS.

Carter is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann O’Brien; his brother, Philip D. Carter (Lynn Bowker); his children, Catherine Carter Sullivan, Finn Carter, Hodding Carter IV, Margaret Carter (Barthell) Joseph, Mike Derian (Margaret Atwell), Craig Derian (Jennifer Strauss), and Brooke Derian; his grandchildren, Margaret Sullivan, Sarah Sullivan, Anabel Carter, Eliza Carter, Helen Carter, Angus Carter, Carter Woodruff, Josephine Woodruff, Garland Joseph, Corrine Joseph, Leslie Derian, and John Thomas Derian; his niece, Cecilia Carter (Bill) Monahan; his nephew, Alexander Bowker (Seyda) Carter; Lisa Lattes; Jim Woodruff(Maricruz Prado); and, numerous cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are encouraged to the Alzheimer’s Association, the Hodding Carter Memorial YMCA in Greenville, MS, the Chapel of the Cross Episcopal Church in Chapel Hill, NC, or a charity of your choice.
