Tom Hollingsworth

Thomas Bayard Hollingsworth, Jr went to be with the Lord on December 11, 2025 after a brief illness.
Tom was many things to many people, Husband to his wife of 64 years Peggy (Brantley) and Dad to sons Cliff (Cherry), Bayard (Rebecca) and James (Jane). He was predeceased by his brother Charles and is survived by his sister Susan Morgan (Stanley). Tom was blessed with 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Originally from Nash County, Tom moved to Carrboro with Peggy in 1966 and retired from UNC - Chapel Hill as Assistant Controller of the university. He was a member of University Presbyterian Church and University Lodge #408 A.F. & A.M.

Tom will be remembered for his unique sense of humor. He rarely met a stranger and was always wanting to poke fun or laugh and joke.
All of his friends at Carolina Meadows, where he lived for 20 years will miss him dearly. Over the years, he was a fixture in various meetings and committees and the guys in security and maintenance were some of his closest friends.

A private memorial service for family and close friends will be held in January with internment in the Memorial Garden at UPC.
