Obituary
Laura Turner

Knightdale, North Carolina

Age 61.
Died 12/21/2025.

Laura Turner
On Sunday, December 21, 2025, Laura Cassandra Timms Turner was carried to Heaven by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Laura peacefully left this world at Transitions Lifecare in Raleigh, surrounded by her husband and her sisters. She will be forever remembered as a dear friend and someone who made everyone around her feel special.

Laura was born in Greenville, SC and moved to Raleigh, NC with her family when she was in High School. She attended Millbrook High School and was in the Youth Group at Tabernacle Baptist Church. She most recently lived in Knightdale, NC with her devoted husband, Mac, and their doggie Dahlin.’
Laura had been a hairdresser for nearly 40 years and loved taking care of her many clients as she made them feel beautiful while being someone they could confide in. This skill helped her develop lifelong friendships with some very dear clients and fellow stylists.

She loved summer and being outside when it was warm, whether it was camping at Myrtle Beach or just being on her back porch enjoying the sunshine. She loved getting together at the beach with family and friends, eating seafood, and listening to beach music. Laura loved music in a way where she saw herself in songs and saw music as a tool to give comfort to others.

Laura loved being near her family and friends – Mac and his family, her son, her sisters and their families, her Mama and Daddy, along with her dear grandparents, cousins, aunts, and uncles, in South Carolina and Georgia. Most of all Laura loved Jesus. Our peace comes from knowing Laura spent her first Christmas in Heaven surrounded by so many people that love her, giving God the glory for the things He has done.

Laura is survived by her husband, Malcolm White Turner; her father, George Terry Timms; her mother, Sandra Lindsey Timms; her son, Johnathan George Harrison; two sisters, Holly Timms Faison (Bill) and Allison Timms Antkowiak (David); two nephews James Michael Faison and William Fleming Faison III; one niece, Lindsey Elizabeth Faison; and a doggie, Dahlin’. Laura is also survived by several cousins, aunts, uncles, and many close friends who have been supportive during this difficult time and will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her Grandparents, Ullen Lowry Timms and Grace Campbell Timms and Sanford Legear Lindsey and Ruby Masters Lindsey; and a brother, Troy Gardner Timms.

Please join us as you are able for a Memorial Service of Laura's life on Friday, January 9th at Providence Baptist Church, 6339 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC. There will be a visitation from 2:00pm-3:00pm with the service starting at 3:30pm. The service will be led by Mr. Kirk Parrish of Corporate Chaplains of America, assisted by Laura’s cousin, Reverend Joey Gambrell of Mount Zion UMC (Central, SC).

Donations may be made in Laura’s memory to either Locks of Love, a charity dear to her heart, that is devoted to helping children under the age of 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis, or Transitions Lifecare of Raleigh.

Floral deliveries for the service should be directed to Prominence Baptist Church (6339 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh NC 27612).

Our Promise

Apples to Apples

Just like all other licensed funeral homes in North Carolina, City of Oaks Cremation, LLC is regulated by the NC Board of Funeral Service.

The same laws that apply to the big corporate funeral homes also apply to the modest independently owned firms like ours. All crematories in North Carolina, regardless of who owns them, are inspected annually by the state and must adhere to the same rules and laws.

$1596.75

icon
Immediate Burial

$2497.50

An immediate burial has the same end result as a traditional burial; however, we have eliminated the extra (sometimes unnecessary) services prior to getting to the cemetery. Not everyone wants an open casket for viewing or a limousine for the family. Despite the term immediate, we can move as fast as you need or as slow as you like. This option simply allows you to save money by eliminating some of the fancy extras at the funeral home.

icon
Traditional Funeral

$6081.48

We offer the same traditional funeral services as the big corporately owned funeral homes in the area; however, we cost about half the amount. You might consider a traditional funeral service if your family is looking for an open casket visitation, a traditional church service or a funeral service in the funeral home's chapel. A traditional funeral service can be altered to fit the needs of your family.

icon
Green Burial

$3033.75

This establishment is one of a select number of funeral homes who meet the criteria for providing green funeral service by the Green Burial Council; a tax-exempt, nonprofit organization working to encourage environmentally sustainability in the field of funeral service. Our Green options allow for a funeral to take place without the use of toxic and non-biodegradable materials/chemicals.

Aquamation

$2640.59

As an alternative to traditional cremation, City of Oaks Funeral Home also offers Aquamation. The Aquamation process, often referred to as alkaline hydrolysis, uses a solution of water and potassium hydroxide to facilitate natural decomposition.
