Michael Lee Callahan

Michael Lee Callahan passed away on December 30, 2025, at his home in Durham, North Carolina.

Michael had a rare gift for making everyone feel like family. He never took life too seriously, always finding humor and light even in difficult moments, but he was deeply serious about the people he loved. His family and friends were his greatest priority, and he showed up for them with unwavering loyalty, kindness, and heart. He gave selflessly to others and would give the shirt off his back to help anyone in need. His wisdom in all situations was warmly received by family and friends.

He was a devoted and loving husband to his wife, Melonie Callahan, and a proud and caring father to his children, Christie Bryant and Jason Bryant. Michael’s love for them was constant, steady, and unconditional.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Aaron Callahan and Loretta Rose Gill Callahan Kivinski, and his sister, Delia Ann Callahan Simpson.

Michael will be remembered for his warmth, his laughter, and his ability to make people feel seen, welcome, and loved. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy lives on in the many lives he touched and in the family he held so close.

A Celebration of Life honoring Michael will be held on Sunday January 18 at 1:00 pm at Bullock's Bar-B-Cue in Durham, NC. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate the life of someone so deeply loved.
