Nancy Catherine Thatcher passed away peacefully on January 8th at her home at Johnston Better Care in Dunn, North Carolina.

Nancy was born in New York, where her life journey began and where her deep compassion for others was formed. She dedicated her career to caring for people as a travel Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Nursing was more than a profession for Nancy—it was her calling, and she served others with kindness, patience, and love.

Nancy’s health began to decline after she was diagnosed with cancer in August. She fought a long and courageous battle, facing her illness with remarkable strength. Throughout chemotherapy, she remained resilient and continued to show a positive and hopeful spirit, inspiring those around her with her courage and grace.

A woman of strong and unwavering faith, Nancy deeply loved Jesus and placed her full trust in Him. She believed that God would always make a way, even in the most difficult seasons of life. Her faith was evident in how she lived, how she loved, and how she endured hardship with hope.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Raashida Tyler, and her husband, Robert Smith. Nancy was a devoted grandmother to her two granddaughters, Jahkini Tyler and Jahmylia Tyler, who were the joy of her life.

Nancy enjoyed movies, football, and learning new things, always keeping a curious and open heart. She delighted in simple pleasures, especially Junior’s Cheesecake and Reese’s chocolate, which brought her comfort and happiness.

Nancy is now reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Winfred Tyler, resting in eternal peace in the presence of the Lord she trusted so deeply. Her legacy of faith, service, strength, and love will live on through all who were blessed to know her.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
