Died:
February 22, 2026

On February 22, 2026, we lost Robert Kearney McQuilkin, a dear husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin, uncle and son after a long and courageous health battle.
Born on October 13, 1954 in Takoma Park, Maryland to the late Kearney (Mac) and Marie McQuilkin, Robert is survived by his devoted and loving wife Deborah and son Joseph. He was especially blessed to welcome and spend time with his beautiful granddaughter, Cameron. Robert also leaves behind brothers David (Kathy), Frank (Julie), numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, and a third “brother” cousin Tony Gilbert.

Robert was a 1972 graduate of Springbrook High School. After working for several years in the drapery installation business, he founded Drapery Express, Inc. in Columbia, Maryland, where his skill and excellent work ethic established his reputation in the industry. He later moved his business to Naples, Florida where he also enjoyed the water and sunshine. Robert and Deborah relocated to Knightdale, North Carolina to enjoy doing life with his son and granddaughter.

Robert (Erter) was extremely outgoing, had a mischievous smile and shared his fun loving nature with family, friends and everyone lucky enough to meet him. He enjoyed golf, his Harley, water activities and especially loved walking his beloved dog Shelton, who was his constant companion to the end.
A private Celebration of Life is planned.
