David Hollandsworth

David Luther Hollandsworth passed peacefully at home with family by his side on Saturday, May 27, 2023.

Born on September 21, 1953 in Winston Salem, David was the second of 4 children to his parents Dr. Luther Clarence Hollandsworth and Mary King. Music was a common fixture throughout his childhood and left a great impression on him that remained throughout his entire life. Other notable influences included fishing, camping with his family, vacations to the beaches and mountains of North Carolina, and a passionate following of the “Tar Heels” spurred by his schooling at UNC-Chapel Hill.

He graduated with a degree in journalism from UNC, later earning an associate degree from Wake Technical College in Computer/Data Processing. He entered into the tech industry, working as a contractor for the EPA and maintaining a career as a skilled database administrator all the way until his retirement in 2022.

David is remembered as a beloved husband and father who will be dearly missed. Surviving are his wife, Cynthia, his son, Josh, and his daughter, Heather. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Baptist Church on Wednesday June 7 at 11:00 am. Visitation will follow.
