Gayle Virginia Schmidt, born on September 7, 1936, in Cranston, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026.

She was born to Virginia and Edwin Whipple Jr. and was raised in Cranston, where she built the strong foundation of independence and determination that would define her life. Gayle was preceded in death by her devoted life partner, Robert Snedigar. The two were inseparable and shared a love of travel, exploring countries around the world and creating a lifetime of cherished memories together.

Gayle is survived by her loving daughter, Kymberlei Schmidt; her grandchildren, Matthew (Heather) and Richard; her half-brothers, Dr. Alan Whipple (Susan) and Steve Whipple; as well as several nephews and extended family members.

Throughout her professional life, Gayle worked as a medical records consultant, providing expertise and consultation to healthcare organizations across the United States. Her favorite place to work was Hawaii, where she especially enjoyed combining her professional skills with the beauty and spirit of the islands.

Gayle had a sharp mind and a playful spirit. She loved reading mystery novels and spending time with family and friends playing board and card games, especially Mahjong, Poker, and Pai Gow. She will be remembered for her intelligence, independence, love of adventure, and the deep bonds she shared with those closest to her.

She leaves behind a legacy of strength, curiosity, and enduring love.
