Albert J. Nebel

Albert Joseph Nebel was born on March 21, 1925, in Staten Island, New York City. In 1969, he moved to Battle Creek, Michigan.

Albert proudly served his country for 22 years in both the United States Army and the United States Air Force, retiring with the rank and honor earned through decades of dedicated service.

During World War II, he served in the South Pacific Theater with the 25th Infantry Division, seeing combat on Luzon Island in the Philippine Islands. He later transferred to the United States Air Force and served with the 4th Fighter Wing during the Korean War.

Among his many commendations, Albert was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for “meritorious participation in ground combat in the southern Philippines during World War II.” His additional assignments took him to Japan and Thule, Greenland.

Following his military retirement, Albert worked for 20 years at the Battle Creek Federal Center with the General Services Administration (GSA). He retired in November 1988.

Albert was a devoted member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church and a longtime member of Riverside Country Club.

He is survived by his wife, Sumako; his daughter, Louise Hunt (Kerry); and his son, Christopher Nebel (Andrea) and his four grandchildren.
