Charlotte Cadieu Heath

Charlotte Cadieu Heath, 80, of Raleigh, NC, passed away in the early morning hours of May 31, 2023, in the arms of her husband of 60 years. In 2021, Charlotte was diagnosed with a rare, neurological disease called Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). These last two years have been incredibly difficult, but now she is free.

Charlotte was born on November 15, 1942, to Peggy and Henry Cadieu in Philadelphia, PA. Shortly after her birth, the family returned to Charlotte, NC. She attended Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic School, Charlotte Catholic High School and King’s College.

Charlotte married the love of her life, Ron Heath, on November 17, 1962. In 1969, Charlotte and her young family relocated to Raleigh, NC, where she lived for the remainder of her life.

When Charlotte was young and asked what she wanted to be when she grew up, her first answer was always to be a mom and she became the best Mom and the “bestest” Mimi. It’s difficult to capture in words the incredible love she had for her four children Ron, Mark, Shelly and Helen and her four grandchildren Emma, Anna, Maggie and Henry.

Her mothering extended beyond her children and grandchildren to her siblings, her nieces and nephews, her children’s friends, employees, coworkers and anyone who needed a smile, a hug or a word of encouragement – or a raised eyebrow if you were out of line.

She believed in all of us and taught us to believe in ourselves.

With time, we hope to fill this hole in our hearts with wonderful memories of her voice, her laugh, her smile, her hugs and her abundant love.

She is survived by her loving husband, Ronald Heath, Sr.; her children, Ron (and Becky) Heath, Jr., Mark (and Amy) Heath, Shelly Heath (and Barry Pierce) and Helen (and Malcolm) Green; her three beautiful granddaughters, Emma, Anna and Maggie; as well as her brother, Joe Cadieu, and sisters, Betsy Ray, Patty Lamm and Dorothy Gardner, and many nieces and nephews.

Charlotte was predeceased by her parents, Peggy and Henry Cadieu, and her grandson, Henry Green.

Her family will receive visitors at the Borden Building at Fred Fletcher Park between 5:00-8:00 p.m. on June 15, 2023. Parking is available at 805 Washington Street, Raleigh, NC 27605.

Charlotte’s family will carry her ashes to the family’s river house in Charlotte, NC, for a celebration of life to be held on September 9, 2023. Her ashes will then be interred next to her beloved grandson, Henry, at Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh.
