In Remembrance of Brenda Jean Moore

Brenda Jean Moore passed away on the afternoon of May 20, 2026 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Joseph Graf, in Raleigh, NC. She had been in hospice care at their home after being diagnosed for stage 4 brain cancer.

Brenda was born to Senora C. Moore and George L. Moore on May 22, 1952 in Dearborn, Michigan. After the family moved to Pender county, NC, Brenda attended elementary and high school in the Pender county area. Brenda attended NC Central University and obtained a BA degree in art education.

After college, she gave art lessons at the Boys Club in Wilmington, NC. As a school teacher she taught art education to many high school students in Duplin County.
Brenda later relocated to Mount Airy, NC and worked as an art teacher at Tharrington elementary school. She concluded her teaching career with over 30 years in 2009.

In addition to her career in art education, she enjoyed many crafts such as painting, drawing, pottery, floral arranging and sewing.

Brenda’s surviving children include Carla Graf and son-in-law, Joe Graf. Her surviving siblings are Paula Moore, LeVern Moore and sister-in-law, Alice Moore. Surviving nieces and nephews are Kimberly Moore Rodgers, Jason Moore, Ivy Moore, London Moore, Ania, Amaya and Kymel Rodgers.

Brenda was a devoted woman of faith and serving the Lord. She would spend much of her time in the early morning hours praying for others and studying the Bible. She also spent several years singing in the choir and creating weekly church bulletins. Her dedication to God was very high, and she strived to spread the message of salvation through Jesus Christ.
