Allie Eugene Morgan

HAMPSTEAD-Allie Eugene Morgan, 84, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at SECU Hospice House of Brunswick. He was born in Tampa, FL to the late Allie Fonzo Morgan of Transylvania Co, NC and Elsie Odell Vick Morgan of Franklin Co, NC.
Eugene is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Phyllis Elaine Horton Morgan, and sister, Ida Ann Morgan Earp.
Directly descended from men who volunteered and fought in the Revolutionary War and the War between the States, the values of independence and self-reliance were passed down to him, and he taught his children those same values. He read his Bible daily, he prayed throughout the day, and he took his children to church. He taught his children about scripture, biblical concepts, and The Trinity. He gifted his children with a biblical worldview, he taught them to spread the gospel, to love others and to serve others, while always being willing to stand their ground and fight.
As a licensed building contractor since 1966, he worked along side his wife, Phyllis, building custom homes for over 40 years. They did most of the work themselves , and took pride in every home, making each one unique. He was a skilled finish carpenter using antique tools to create beautiful woodwork. He explained it was important to him that the houses they built would provide families with homes long after his time on Earth ended.
He was the contractor for the Ridgecrest Baptist Church prayer chapel, and even though he was poor at the time, he refused to accept payment for his work. He frequently said, “money’s just paper”, “a dollar isn’t going to make me or break me”, and “I came into this world with nothing, and I’ll leave this world with nothing”. He was generous with what he had, and he was willing to go out of his way for other people.
He cared deeply about people and animals. He loved horses and enjoyed sailboats and music. He taught his children about horses, firearms, gardening, tractors, and how to drive straight drives. He taught them about drafting, tools, and home construction. He was a fierce protector of his children and was always quick to be there for them.
Eugene is survived by his brother, Ronnie Glenn Morgan and wife Marion; children Gregory Morgan and wife Reba, Pamela Ball and husband Michael, Lisa Andrews and husband Billy, Douglas Morgan, and Gena Fountain and husband Adam; grandchildren, Levi Morgan and wife Sara, Lacy Andrews, Dane Morgan and wife Caroline, Darby Morgan, Allie Morgan, and Barrett Fountain; great grandchildren, Lane Morgan, Lillian Morgan, Stella Morgan, Klaus Morgan, and William Wood.
