Gladys M. Ferrell

Gladys Marie Ferrell, age 94, of Zebulon, N.C., passed away peacefully at her residence on Sunday, June 21, 2026, surrounded by her family.  Born in Rolesville, NC, on October 1, 1931, she was the daughter to the late Mack Henry Hurt and Gladys Hamilton Hurt.

Marie was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Prior to retirement, she worked for the State of North Carolina, Department of Public Health in Raleigh, NC.  Outside of work, she enjoyed attending church until her health declined, sewing, gardening, cooking, baking cakes, raising her daughter, and spending time with her two grandchildren and four great grandchildren and her devoted dog, Bradley.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Elwyn (Monk) Ferrell, her sister, Jean Ann Tart and her brothers, Bill, Arthur, and Robert Hurt.

Marie is survived by her only daughter, Gina Driver and husband Anthony Driver of the home in Zebulon, NC; sisters Elsie Linder of Denver, NC; Peggy Brown of Zebulon, NC; brothers, Doug Hurt of Rolesville, NC and Donald Hurt of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Amber Lee and husband, Wade Lee of Zebulon, NC; Megan Ward and husband, Patrick Ward of Zebulon, NC; great-granddaughters, Jessie Maria Lee and Joleigh Marissa Ward and great-grandsons, Hunter Wade Lee and Henry Patrick Ward, all of Zebulon, NC.

Marie will be remembered for her contagious smile, her love for her family and her love for animals.

A memorial service and visitation will be held at City of Oaks Funeral Home and Cremations in Raleigh, NC on Friday, June 26, 2026 with burial to follow at Beulah Christian Church Cemetery in Rolesville, NC.  Family will receive friends at the residence following the graveside service.
