Rudy Hinton
Rudy Marks Hinton
October 25, 1954 – June 22, 2026

With heavy hearts, we announce that Rudy Marks Hinton went to his Heavenly home on June 22, 2026. Though his unexpected passing breaks our hearts, we find comfort in knowing he is at peace in the presence of his Lord and Savior.

Born on October 25, 1954, to the late Bobby and Jean Hinton, Rudy was raised with the values of faith, family, and dedication that would guide him throughout his life. He was a proud 1973 graduate of Garner Senior High School, where he formed friendships and memories that remained special to him throughout the years.

Rudy is survived by his beloved wife, Gayle Creech Hinton; his daughters, Erin Beck (David) and Emily Coe (Doug); and his stepdaughter, Sydney Aspinwall (Jamie). He was a proud and devoted PawPaw to Makayla, Haley, Charleigh, Ruthie, Brooklyn, Anthony, Grayson, and Paige, who brought immeasurable joy to his life. He is also survived by a great-grandson who is expected later this year.

He was the next-to-oldest of five brothers who shared an extraordinary bond throughout their lives. He is survived by his oldest brother, Steve Hinton (Brenda), and his younger brothers, Tony Hinton, Jeff Hinton, and Allen Hinton (Susan), along with many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Rudy never met a stranger. He was loved by everyone who knew him and had a remarkable gift for making people laugh. He enjoyed keeping family and friends entertained and could always be counted on to bring humor to any gathering. His warm personality and quick wit left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

An avid sports fan, Rudy faithfully cheered for the Carolina Hurricanes, New York Yankees, Pittsburgh Steelers, and NC State Wolfpack. He loved golf and enjoyed following sports throughout his life.

Known for his tireless work ethic, Rudy built a career at Harris Wholesale, where he formed many lifelong friendships. After retirement, he started his own painting business, continuing to work with the same determination and pride that defined him. He was also devoted to the Christmas tree industry, working with Pop-N-Son and Mistletoe Meadows, where he made many lifelong friends.

Faith was the foundation of Rudy's life. A lifelong member of Ebenezer Methodist Church, he faithfully loved and served his church family for many years. His faith was reflected in the way he lived—with kindness, humility, and a willingness to help others whenever he could.

Above all else, Rudy was a devoted husband, father, PawPaw, brother, and friend. His family was his greatest source of pride and joy. He was known for always showing up, always lending a helping hand, and always being there when he was needed. No matter the circumstance, his loved ones knew they could count on him.

While his sudden loss breaks our hearts, we are grateful for the countless memories, lessons, laughter, and love he leaves behind. Rudy's presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in the lives he touched and the family he cherished so dearly.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

Our Promise

Apples to Apples

Just like all other licensed funeral homes in North Carolina, City of Oaks Cremation, LLC is regulated by the NC Board of Funeral Service.

The same laws that apply to the big corporate funeral homes also apply to the modest independently owned firms like ours. All crematories in North Carolina, regardless of who owns them, are inspected annually by the state and must adhere to the same rules and laws.

icon
Immediate Burial

$2497.50

An immediate burial has the same end result as a traditional burial; however, we have eliminated the extra (sometimes unnecessary) services prior to getting to the cemetery. Not everyone wants an open casket for viewing or a limousine for the family. Despite the term immediate, we can move as fast as you need or as slow as you like. This option simply allows you to save money by eliminating some of the fancy extras at the funeral home.

icon
Traditional Funeral

$6081.48

We offer the same traditional funeral services as the big corporately owned funeral homes in the area; however, we cost about half the amount. You might consider a traditional funeral service if your family is looking for an open casket visitation, a traditional church service or a funeral service in the funeral home's chapel. A traditional funeral service can be altered to fit the needs of your family.

icon
Green Burial

$3033.75

This establishment is one of a select number of funeral homes who meet the criteria for providing green funeral service by the Green Burial Council; a tax-exempt, nonprofit organization working to encourage environmentally sustainability in the field of funeral service. Our Green options allow for a funeral to take place without the use of toxic and non-biodegradable materials/chemicals.

Alkaline Hydrolysis

$2640.59

As an alternative to traditional cremation, City of Oaks Funeral Home offers Alkaline Hydrolysis. The Alkaline Hydrolysis process uses a solution of water and potassium hydroxide to facilitate natural decomposition.
