Barbara Lynn Strickland

Barbara Lynn Strickland, 73, passed away on March 11, 2026. She was born on June 20, 1952, and was a native of Wendell, North Carolina, later residing in Zebulon, North Carolina. Lynn dedicated many years of service to the State of North Carolina through her work with the North Carolina Department of Revenue. She also served her community with compassion as a caregiver and case manager with Helping Hands of America, where she made a lasting impact on those she cared for, including her devoted service to Ms. Doris Carlisle.

She had a deep love for reading and was an avid reader throughout her life. Lynn also found great joy in spending time in the mountains, where she appreciated the peace and beauty of nature. Lynn is survived by her daughter, Nella Brooks Johnson; her grandson, Carey Dement; her sisters, Vickie Hatcher (Tim) and Carla Puckett (Mike); along with extended family and friends who will cherish her memory.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Barbara Nell Strickland and Coleman Strickland, and her sister, Amy Strickland.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Salem Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Wendell, North Carolina. The service will be officiated by Rev. Tom Eldridge.
