Bruce G. Forney

Bruce G. Forney, 72, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on February 4, 2022.
Bruce was born on March 12, 1949 in Edinburg, Ohio. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Jacqueline, children Eric (Ellen) Forney, Natalie (Germaine) Smith, and Jennifer (Michael) Hodgkinson, his nine grandchildren, and his brother William (Karen) Forney. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Goldie Forney.
Bruce graduated from Southeast High School in 1967 then graduated from Youngstown State University in 1972, after which he began a long career as a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers. Bruce enjoyed fun, food, jokes, and laughing with his family and friends and he proudly maintained the nicest yard around on his favorite John Deere riding mower. Although he enjoyed many sports, Bruce was a devout Cleveland Indians fan. He was a longtime member of Atwater Baptist Church where he served in many capacities, including as a trustee, choir member, Sunday school teacher, the Haven of Rest Ministries, and Portage County Jail ministry. He later became a member of New Testament Baptist Church in Ravenna. To Bruce, actions spoke louder than words and leaving a legacy of faith-in-action for his children and grandchildren was of utmost importance.
At his request there will be a celebration of life service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Thomas Serenity, Ltd., 605 Lawson-Cypress Way, Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526 or the New Testament Baptist Church (Ravenna, Ohio) Missions Fund.
