Caryn Michelle Ruiz, 54, of Raleigh, passed away on January 4, 2026, at her home. She was born on November 24, 1971, in (I know we’re waiting on the county) NC, to the late Faye Williams. Caryn was truly one of a kind and the type of person you don’t forget, even if you only met her once. She was deeply loved, endlessly funny, and left laughter wherever she went.

Caryn spent her life caring for others, with a heart especially big for children and animals. She worked as a preschool teacher at New Hope Baptist Preschool, where she nurtured young minds with patience, warmth, and possibly some lighthearted mischief. Later, she followed her passion for animals, working at Audrey’s Barkyard and most recently as the Lead Receptionist at Oak Heart Veterinary Hospital in Raleigh.

Outside of work, Caryn loved camping, traveling anywhere she could - especially the mountains - and spending quality time with her family and beloved dogs. She was loving, hilarious, sarcastic, and unapologetically Caryn, a woman who spoke her mind, loved fiercely, and showed up for the people she cared about. She was a devoted wife, a proud and loving mother, and the kind of friend you could always count on, no matter what.

In addition to her mother, Caryn was preceded in death by her treasured fur babies, Bella and Josie, who no doubt greeted her enthusiastically.

She is survived by the love of her life and husband of 25 years, Ignacio Ruiz; her children, Isabel, Olivia, and Devon Ruiz; and her fur babies Lana, Blake and Maggie.

Caryn lived loudly, loved deeply, laughed often, and left this world better than she found it. While she will be deeply missed, her spirit, humor, and unforgettable personality will live on in every story, every laugh, and every memory shared in her honor.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday January 13th, 2026 at 2:00 PM with private cremation to follow.

In Caryn’s spirit, guests are encouraged to dress as she would have loved — wear whatever makes you happy, and don’t shy away from color. Flowers are welcomed, but if desired, donations in Caryn’s memory can be made to a cause near and dear to Caryn’s heart. Pugs!
