In Loving Memory of Charles Clifford Jones

May 9, 1940 - October 31, 2026

Charles Clifford Jones, lovingly known as Chuck, passed away peacefully at home on October 31, 2026, at the age of 86, surrounded by the comfort of home and the love of his family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cathy Caulder Jones; his seven children: Sheryl Ann Jones, Charles Clifford Jones, Jr. (Cheukwa), Susan Marie Jones, Ronald Nathan Harris, Jr. (Clara), Amy Lynn Mullins (Andrew), Krystal Brooke Harris (Chris), and Jessica Nicole Harris; his brother, John Fenton Jones, Jr. (Kathy); nineteen grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Chuck was born on May 9, 1940, in New York City, New York, to the late John Fenton Jones and Wilma Irving Jones. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jonica Jones Howarth.

His family later relocated to Accomack County, Virginia, where they owned and operated the Accomac Hotel until 1976.

Chuck proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard. He later attended the Newport News Shipbuilding Company Apprentice School and went on to work at the shipyard. Following his time there, he worked for Best Products and Brendle’s department stores. After moving to Apex, North Carolina, he continued working for Brendle’s at its Garner location until the chain eventually closed its doors.

Chuck had a deep love for country music and was a beloved fixture at the Longbranch Saloon in Raleigh, North Carolina. Whether he was out on the dance floor, playing a game of pool, or sharing one of his famous tall tales by Tracy’s bar, Chuck knew how to enjoy life and bring people together. He also treasured the family reunions on Chincoteague Island, Virginia, where precious memories were made with the people he loved most.

Above all, Chuck was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. His wife and family were always his first priority. He loved his family deeply and took great pride in each of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. To those who knew him, he was a loyal friend, a familiar face, and a man whose stories and presence will not soon be forgotten.

Chuck leaves behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, love, and stories that will continue to be shared for generations. Though he will be deeply missed, his love will live on in the hearts of his family and all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Rest peacefully, Chuck. You were loved more than words can say, and your memory will live on forever.
