Connie LaRue Hepler Hedgpeth

Connie passed away peacefully at home on January 19, 2022 following several years of declining health. She is survived by her devoted husband of 51 years, Rev. Edwin H. Hedgpeth. Also surviving are her daughter Laura Brewer (Mike) of Reidsville, her son John M. Hedgpeth (Ty) of Wilmington, and two grandsons Joshua Brewer and Tyler Brewer.

She was the only child of Thurman Basil Hepler and Bernice Magdalene Marley Hepler, both deceased. Connie was born in Greensboro and grew up in Zebulon, graduating from Wakelon High School in 1961. She went on to earn her Bachelor in Music from Greensboro College and Masters in Music Education from Appalachian State University. She worked as a music teacher in the public schools and could play any instrument, however most loved the French horn and piano. In 1970 she married Edwin, taking on the role of minister's wife and mother to their children.

Throughout her life, Connie enjoyed reading, planting flowers, shopping, and was a devotee of her faith. She was a member of Zebulon United Methodist Church. The family is thankful for the loving kindness of the church, friends, and neighbors during Connie's illness. We are grateful for the special care she received during numerous hospital stays, her time at Zebulon Rehabilitation Center, and by Amedysis Hospice of Franklinton at home in her last weeks.

A graveside service will be held on March 19, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, 809 W Gannon Ave. Zebulon, NC.
