Elizabeth Irene Collins

Elizabeth Irene Collins, age 89, of Raleigh, NC, passed away peacefully on September 29,2016, leaving behind a legacy of vibrant memories and a family who loved her dearly.
Born on April 24, 1937, in Maysville, North Carolina. Elizabeth was a woman of distinct personality and passions. She found her greatest joys playing the organ at her church, tending to her plants with patience and care in her garden. While retired she took pride in working at the Governor's mansion in Raleigh. She loved the mountains during the falls season and azaleas in the spring and summer. Although not a fan of the beach, she loved oysters, crabs and seafood. Elizabeth had a special place in her heart for her beloved cats. She cherished the time she spent with her daughters and family, sharing moments that her family will hold close to their hearts forever.
In her later years, Elizabeth faced the severe trials of Parkinson's disease. This difficult journey brought out the complex challenges of aging and illness, testing her and those around her. Yet, through every hurdle, her daughters remained by her side, choosing to remember and celebrate the bright, positive chapters of her 89 years. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is finally at peace and free from the burdens of her long illness.
She is survived by her devoted daughters, Sue and Cindy, who loved her through all of life's seasons, as well as her grandchildren Jason and Thor and extended family.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Her family will gather privately to scatter her ashes in a place of peace and beauty.
