Franklin Lawrence "Frank" Prevo, 86, passed away peacefully at his home on November 5, 2027. He was born on February 2, 1940 in Charlotte, NC. He was raised at the Nazareth Orphanage of North Carolina in Raleigh, and then graduated from Cathedral Latin High School. Frank was predeceased by sisters, Frances Patricia Stimmell and Julia Prevo Lucas, and his son, Burdette “Burt” Franklin Prevo.

After enlisting in the Navy in 1958, Frank spent six years serving his country. He met the love of his life, Portia Davis, in 1960 and they were married in 1961. Frank and Portia made their home in Raleigh, where they raised their two children, Burt and Cathy. He spent his career in sales management for a distributing company, before retiring and serving as a sergeant-at-arms in the NC House of Representatives. An avid sports fan, Frank was especially loyal to his NC State Wolfpack and the Cardinal Gibbons Crusaders.

Frank is survived by his wife of 66 years, Portia Davis Prevo, his daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Bill Alsop of Raleigh, daughter-in-law, Jan Potter Prevo of Clayton, grandchildren, Ashley Prevo Hester and husband Ken of Clayton, Megan Prevo Worley and husband Jeffrey of Gibsonville, Frank Prevo of Clayton, and Elisabeth Alsop He of Raleigh. He is also survived by great-grandchildren Isaac and Madelyn Hester, Emmett Worley, and John, Samuel, and Judah He. He is fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. We will all, as Frank liked to say, keep the faith.
A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, November 11, 2026 at 1:00 pm at the Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral in Raleigh. The family will receive friends at a reception immediately following in the church parish hall. Memorial contributions may be made to Duke Hospice (giving-dukehealth@duke.edu) or Cardinal Gibbons High School (www.cghsnc.org/support/give) alumni fund.
