Howard Hollis Sr. “Dogg”, 69, of Cary, NC passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, in his home following a long illness. He was born September 12, 1955 to the late Willie Hollis Sr. and Luvenia Hollis in Elyria, Ohio.

Howard was employed with GM and American Crucible and later went in to the security field. He
enjoyed watching football and basketball, singing Karaoke, gardening, the martial arts specifically, taekwondo and karate where he achieved the level of black belt and obtained a gold medal.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Luvenia Hollis Sr.; brother, Lyle Jackson.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 34 years, Chananna Hollis; his daughters Shatika Hollis and Natasha Willis both of Elyria, OH and Ariel Jackson of Kalamazoo, MI; sons Aaron (Brina) Hollis and Anthony Lewis both of Elyria, OH, Howard (Annjerrica) Hollis Jr. of Erie, PA and Taiwan Willis of Columbus, OH; Sisters Dora (Arthur) McCall, Bettie (Edward) Wilson, DeLois (Edward) Moore all of Elyria, OH, Mary Jenkins and Ella Hollis of Norfolk, VA; brothers, Willie Hollis Jr. of Saginaw, MI., Reginald (Tonia) Hollis of Elyria, OH, Eugene (Priscilla) Hollis of Dallas, Texas, David (Barbara) Hollis and Tracy Hollis both of Elyria, OH; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to family, friends and Duke Cancer Institute for all of your help and support.

Per his wishes, a private memorial for family and friends will be held in his honor at a later date in Elyria, OH.
