In Loving Memory of
Johnnie Evans

Johnnie Nell Evans, 73, of Creedmoor, North Carolina, was born in Bacon, Georgia, on March 12, 1953, and passed away on October 25, 2026, in Durham County, North Carolina.
Johnnie lived a life that was anything but easy. She faced more hardships than most people could ever imagine, yet somehow always found the strength to keep going. She was one of the toughest women you could ever meet, and no matter what life threw her way, she never stopped fighting through it.
Johnnie was stubborn, strong-willed, funny, and unapologetically herself. She loved a good horror movie or thriller and was an avid reader, particularly of Stephen King and James Patterson. She enjoyed country music, was a big Dale Earnhardt fan, and appreciated the simple comforts of life, like a good cup of coffee.
Above everything else, Johnnie was a mother. Raising and caring for children was something she dedicated much of her life to. Her love for her family extended far beyond the traditional roles of motherhood and grandmotherhood.
To some, she was Johnnie, but to so many others, she was simply Mimi. That name wasn’t reserved for those related to her by blood. Even her granddaughter’s friends came to know and love her as Mimi, forming relationships with her that went far beyond friendship.
Johnnie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert “Pete” Evans, and her son, Dwayne, as well as several of her siblings.
She leaves behind her daughter, Kimberly; her granddaughter, Sierra; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and her surviving siblings, Jimmy and Louise, along with extended family members and many dear friends who loved her.
Forever loved. Forever remembered. Forever our Mimi.
