Mark Phillip Fields passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at The Hock Family Pavilion in Durham, NC after a valiant 16-month battle with cancer.

Mark was born on July 31, 1955 in Lincolnton, NC. His parents, Joseph Browning Fields and Jane Pope Fields and his brother, Browning, predeceased him.

Mark is survived by his wife, Donna, son, Dylan (Ashlee), daughter, Carly (Craig), grandsons, Lleyton and Gus, sister, Chris Lamar (Roger), niece, Jennie Parker (William) and their sons, and all of Donna’s family whom he loved dearly, especially his mother-in-law.

Mark was a son, brother, husband, father, friend, die-hard Carolina fan, soldier, and telecom tech extraordinaire. He proudly served in the U.S. Army/NC National Guard from 1973-2004, participating in operations Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom. Mark was especially proud of his career at CP&L/Duke Energy Progress, providing support to Shearon Harris Nuclear Plant for many years.

In retirement, Mark loved going to concerts and plays, watching movies and television shows, and sipping good whiskey and top-shelf brandy. Trivia Tuesdays and Friday nights were spent with his Greenway Beer and Wine family.

Mark will be interred at Oakwood Cemetery at a private family service with military honors.
