Martha Harris Farley

Martha Ann Harris Farley, age 96, passed away peacefully after a brief stay at UNC Hospice. She was born July 27, 1930, in Shelby, NC to the late Miller and Ocie Harris.

In Addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Howard Farley, daughter Leslie Farley, and brother Albert Harris. She is survived by her son Neil Farley (Sharon) and daughters Dale Farley (Marianne), and Kathy Blackwell, a brother John Harris, 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and many friends.

Martha will be remembered for her kindness, talent, generosity, and devotion to her family and church. She graduated from Women’s College in Greensboro and became an outstanding stained-glass artist whose work can be seen in churches all over the US. She loved people, nature, and working in her yard. We would like to thank the staff of Cambridge Village in Apex and at Spring Arbor of Cary who helped with her care for the last 7 years.

A celebration of her life will be held at St. James United Methodist Church in Raleigh on October 11th at 2:00 where Martha was a member for many years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. James or Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.

Her family is grateful for the kindness and support shown during this time.
