Mary was born Mary Philips to Maria Dorothy and Charles R. Philips in Poughkeepsie, New York, on October 13, 1954.
Mary had a brother, Charles R., and sister, Patricia Jane, both of whom predeceased Mary. Mary is survived by two daughters, Erica Maiore (Chip Kloss) of Raleigh, Vanessa Coley (Jason) of Holly Springs, grandson Bryson Coley, step-son-in-law Christopher Williams, and step daughter in law Amanda Williams of Kenly, and three step grandsons, Carson Williams, Garrett Williams, and Wyatt Williams, and by her husband, C. Richard Williams, Jr., of Raleigh.
Mary attended Poughkeepsie Public Schools and studied art at Dutchess County Community College. Mary was an accomplished artist, avid gardener, and being Italian, a great cook. She had three cats who kept her busy, as cats do. After moving to Raleigh, Mary worked for Office Max, Hale Force Holdings, Quintiles, and Kings Entertainment. The family thanks the SECU Hospice House for their compassionate care during Mary's last days. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will take place at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.

City of Oaks Funeral Home and Cremation provides an affordable cremation with a private family viewing. A private family viewing allows up to 10 immediate family members or friends to spend time with a loved one when a public visitation is not preferred.

An immediate burial has the same end result as a traditional burial; however, we have eliminated the extra (sometimes unnecessary) services prior to getting to the cemetery. Not everyone wants an open casket for viewing or a limousine for the family. Despite the term immediate, we can move as fast as you need or as slow as you like. This option simply allows you to save money by eliminating some of the fancy extras at the funeral home.

You might consider a traditional funeral service if your family is looking for an open casket visitation, a traditional church service or a funeral service in the funeral home's chapel.
