Michael "Mike" Wayne Russ

Michael “Mike” Wayne Russ, 71, of Durham, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday February 8, 2023 after a short battle with Glioblastoma.
Mike was born in Wilmington, NC on April 12, 1951 to the late William Paul Russ, Sr. and Ruby Spivey Russ. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Judy Raynor Russ. He is survived by his loving wife Bonnie Pearce Russ, son Michael “Perry” Russ [wife Sarah], son Joseph “Joey” Wayne Russ [wife Chris], grandchildren Caitlyn, Emma, Benjamin and Hannah, brother William “Bill” Paul Russ, Jr. [wife Sharon], numerous nieces, nephews and cousins as well as his faithful buddy and loving K9 companion, Max.
Mike was a dedicated member of Focus Church in Apex and lifelong servant of God. He spent his career as a telecommunications technician with Progress Energy and later Wireless Communications. After retirement, he enjoyed part-time employment at Triangle Pharmacy Ace Hardware and found joy in woodworking and golf.
A "Celebration of his Life" with family and friends will be held at Focus Church 7000 Destiny Drive in Raleigh, NC at 1:30 PM on Saturday, February 18, 2023. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Crisis Dogs of NC (www.crisisdogsnc.org).
