Philip Scott Matthews

Scott attended Hilton Elementary School in Newport News, VA, graduated from Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, VA (1958) and graduated from Lynchburg College (now University of Lynchburg) in Lynchburg, VA (1962). He retired from the NC Department of Transportation. He was an avid rail fan and a member of the Train Collectors Association and the Chesapeake and Ohio Historical Society. There will be no funeral or memorial service. Gifts may be made to a local cancer charity of your choice or to Hargrave Military Academy, 200 Military Drive, Chatham, VA 24531. Scott is survived by his wife, Cynthia (Cindy) Vassar Matthews of Raleigh, NC.
