Rebecca Smith Thomas, 51, of Creedmoor, North Carolina, passed away on August 10, 2026. She was born on September 5, 1974, in Oxford, North Carolina, to Homer Earl Smith, Sr. and Betty Pruitt Smith.

Rebecca was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her family meant everything to her, and she cared deeply for the people she loved. She found great joy in spending time with her family and was always ready to give her love, support, and care. Her warm heart, kindness, and devotion to those around her left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Rebecca was the beloved wife of Shawn Christopher Thomas and a loving mother to her daughter, Tanya Thomas Horne and her husband, Kelly. She was a proud grandmother to her two granddaughters, whom she loved dearly and cherished every moment she shared with them.

She is survived by her daughter, Tanya Thomas Horne, her husband, Kelly, and their two daughters; her parents, Homer Earl Smith, Sr. and Betty Pruitt Smith; her brothers, Homer Earl Smith, Jr. and Peter James “PJ” Smith and his wife, Melissa; and her brothers and sisters-in-law, Barry Dwight Thomas, Jr.; Joel Christian Thomas and his wife, Melissa; Shanna Thomas Conner; Windi Thomas Lopez; Tiffanni Thomas Phillips; Jessica Helen Wilmouth; and Tammie Jones Pearson and her husband, Paul.

Rebecca was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews, including the two children of Homer Earl Smith, Jr.; the two children of Peter James “PJ” Smith and Melissa; Joel and Melissa’s three children; Shanna’s four children; Windi’s three children; Tiffanni’s two children; Jessica’s four children; and Tammie and Paul’s two children. She was also a beloved great-aunt to many great-nieces and great-nephews and held a special place in the lives of her extended family. Her love extended far beyond immediate family, and she cherished the many bonds that brought her family together.

Rebecca had a special love for animals, especially her four beloved dogs. They were cherished members of her family and brought her great comfort and companionship throughout the years. Two of her beloved dogs passed away before her, but they remained an important part of her life and held a special place in her heart. She continued to love and care for her two surviving dogs, who were an important part of her family.

Rebecca worked in a dental office and spent her working years caring for others. Those who knew her will remember her for her kind and caring nature, her devotion to her family, and the love she gave so freely to those around her.

Above all, Rebecca will be remembered for the love she had for her family. Her greatest joy was the people she held close to her heart.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by the family and friends who loved her. Though she is no longer with us, the love she gave and the memories she created will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
