In Loving Memory of Shawn Christopher Thomas

Shawn Christopher Thomas, 51, of Creedmoor, North Carolina, passed away on August 13, 2026. He was born on December 19, 1974, in Halifax, Virginia.

Shawn was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a man who valued his family deeply and cherished the relationships he shared with those closest to him. His family was an important part of his life, and the memories he created with them will continue to be treasured for generations to come.

Shawn was the beloved husband of Rebecca Smith Thomas, with whom he shared a life filled with family, love, and memories. He was a loving father to Tanya Thomas Horne, her husband Kelly, and their two children.

Shawn was preceded in death by his parents, Barry Dwight Thomas, Sr. and Beckey Heidemann Thomas; his beloved wife, Rebecca Smith Thomas; and his great-nephew, Nolan Avery Short. He is survived by his daughter, Tanya Thomas Horne, her husband, Kelly, and their two children; his siblings, Barry Dwight Thomas, Jr.; Joel Christian Thomas and his wife, Melissa; Shanna Thomas Conner; Windi Thomas Lopez; Tiffanni Thomas Phillips; Jessica Helen Wilmouth; and Tammie Jones Pearson and her husband, Paul.

He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews, including Joel and Melissa's three children; Shanna's four children; Windi's three children; Tiffanni's two children; Jessica's four children; and Tammie and Paul's two children. Shawn was also a great-uncle to many great-nieces and great-nephews, and he held a special place in the lives of his extended family.

Shawn also had a way of making the people around him feel at home. During his time working for NC DHHS Central Regional Hospital, he brought countless smiles to his coworkers through his humor, antics, and, of course, his love of making coffee and espresso beverages.

Shawn had a soft spot for his four dogs, who were much more than pets—they were part of his family. Over the years, they brought him companionship, comfort, and countless special moments. Although he had to say goodbye to two of them before his own passing, their memories remained close to his heart. His two remaining dogs continued to be an important part of his life, giving him the love and companionship that only a beloved pet can provide.

Though Shawn's passing leaves an immense emptiness for those who loved him, his life will continue through the family he helped build, the people he made laugh, the things he fixed with his own hands, the music he loved, and the countless little moments that made him unforgettable.

He will be deeply missed by his daughter, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, extended family, friends, and the many coworkers whose days he made a little brighter.

Shawn will be remembered with love, laughter, a good cup of coffee, and a lifetime of memories carried in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
