Sheila Lineberry Penny

Sheila Lineberry Penny, 73, of Clayton, NC, passed away on October 22, 2026, following her battle with breast cancer. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Sheila was born and raised in Raleigh, NC, on June 11, 1953, to Dee and Mabel Lineberry. She graduated from Sanderson High School and went on to attend East Carolina University. Sheila spent most of her life in Wendell, NC, before moving to Clayton, NC, where she found a special place to call home during the last five years of her life.
Sheila cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren. An avid reader of mystery novels and a lover of puzzles, she also found great joy in gathering with friends for card games—an opportunity she never missed. Sheila was incredibly talented at crocheting; from blankets and pot holders to koozies, her home was filled with her handmade creations. If it could be crocheted, chances are Sheila made it herself. Her handmade creations were a reflection of the care and love she put into the things she did.
Sheila is survived by her daughter, Michelle Mills, and her husband, Blake, of Grimesland, NC; her son, Cameron Penny, and his wife, Ashley, of Wendell, NC; and her beloved grandchildren, Emma Kate Mills, Greyson Penny, and Charlotte Penny. She is also survived by her two brothers, Bill Lineberry and his wife, Debbie, and Jim Lineberry and his wife, Connie, as well as a niece and three nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mabel and Dee Lineberry.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Transitions LifeCare in Sheila’s memory.
