Dr. Victor Emanuel Agusta was born in Brooklyn, NY, on September 28, 1941 to Michael and Stephanie Agusta.   He was the youngest brother of Philip, Benjamin and Vincent.

Victor attended St. John's Prep, received a full scholarship at St. John's University and graduated from the University of Rochester Medical School in 1966.  He married Carol McSweeney on June 26, 1965.   He served in the army in Vietnam as a surgeon caring for our country’s wounded heroes, and received a bronze star for his service.

Upon completion of his medical degree, Victor joined a private Urology practice in Lancaster, PA where he became a respected and beloved member of the community. Victor cherished the practice of family medicine where he could get to know his patients and their families but also loved the tangible practice of surgery.  He held multiple leadership roles at Lancaster General Hospital, serving as the Head of the Urology Department, the president of the medical staff and a member of the Board of Directors.  He was always pressing for ways to improve the delivery of healthcare to patients.   He capped his career as President of the Mid-Atlantic Urological Association.  He provided invaluable guidance as a long-time board member of AKSM,  a private company that provided access of critical medical equipment to urologists across the country.

Victor spent his retirement years with Carol on Seabrook Island, SC where he enjoyed an active lifestyle playing golf and tennis.  He participated on community boards,  and enjoying time with friends and family. He particularly loved visits from his children and grandchildren during the holidays, leading them in games of cards, corks  and banker broker.  He continued his medical service as a volunteer at the Barrier Island Free Clinic on Johns Island,  providing care for the most vulnerable people in the community.   Due to his impactful work with the Clinic,  he received the prestigious Angel Oak Award in 2018 from the Kiawah-Seabrook Exchange Club Foundation.

Victor’s Catholic faith and relationship with Jesus Christ was of primary importance to him.   He was an active member of Sacred Heart Parish in Lancaster and Holy Spirit Parish on Johns Island where he served in multiple roles including as an alter server at the age of 79.  He loved his book clubs and prayer groups in his faith community, and started each day praying the liturgy of the hours.

Victor will be remembered for his intelligence, warmth, sense of humor, love of life and his ever present smile.   Surviving two heart valve replacements in middle-age,  he saw each day he could spend with friends and family as a true gift.   He made friends easily at each stop in his life, even at his short stay at the Cardinal in North Hills in Raleigh despite his communication challenges.

Victor loved his wife and family deeply, and was always willing to help any family member that needed it.   Victor’s older brothers supported him in his educational pursuits after his father died at a  young age, and he  payed that love and support forward to his nieces and nephews.  He cherished his time with his grandchildren and attended many of their special events.  He enjoyed the amazing family trips over the years, particularly incredible adventures to Italy and Norway.

He is survived by his wife Carol Agusta of Raleigh, NC,  his son Victor Agusta Jr. and wife Lori from Cary, NC, their children, Samuel (Kailey),  Sophia, Bella and Grace;  his son Michael McSweeney Agusta and wife Laurie Anne from Mt. Airy, MD,  his daughter Stefanie Albert  and husband Steve from Atlanta, GA and their two children Zoe and Sullivan.
